Proactively Prevent Burnout

When we think of burnout, we typically picture a person in the workforce who doesn't get enough time away from their job. And while burnout can happen to someone like this, it can also happen to you.

Everyone has the potential to become burnt out. In fact, you may have already experienced it. Burnout is classified as emotional exhaustion (and I bet you know what it’s like to be so exhausted that you feel like a zombie, just going through the motions of life).

You’re not alone.

In 2020, the World Health Organization actually included burnout in the 11th revision of the International Classification of Diseases. Stress and emotional fatigue is on the rise, so how do we help ourselves?

The best thing to do is to listen to what traditional Eastern medicine has been saying since the dawn of time—take a holistic approach. Look at the imbalances between your mental, emotional, physical, and spiritual well-being.

Begin by meditating more often, talking to someone who has the emotional capacity to support you, eating whole foods, moving your body, and spending time in nature.

While you may be used to speeding through life, it doesn't have to stay that way. It’s time to be proactive about your wellness—if you don’t, you won’t be able to help anyone.

Start to build time into your day for you.

Worried about neglecting your kids?

Show them how important it is to value their health.

Model for them the power of asking for help.

You become better at mothering when you can show up every day as the best version of yourself.

Every mom just wants to be able to grow and laugh with their children. They want to be there for their first steps and first words… the bike rides, graduations, career goals, and weddings. You have to be healthy if you want to take part in all of these amazing milestones.

You have to prioritize you.
